MEATGRINDER
MeatGrinder, 2024, is an open diary that explores emotional and sexual abuse. Over two intense months, Chitima Harcup delved into their subconscious, producing 100 inkings (30 x 14.5cm) that confront these challenging themes. Largely unplanned, each work emerged from the depths of the artist’s subconscious, offering an intimate look into the emotional effects of abuse. Ink was chosen for its staining qualities, reminiscent of the blemish left on one’s psyche after experiencing such horrors.

SACRIFICIAL LAMB
Rendered entirely in deep red ink, Tendai Chitima Harcup's "Sacrificial Lamb" is an exploration of neglected mental well-being in the service of others. The claustrophobic interior, defined by stark lines and bleeding washes of red, encloses a scene of unsettling stillness. A figure lies prone, seemingly drained, while another hangs suspended, evoking a sense of being sacrificed. Through the limited yet intense palette, Chitima Harcup powerfully conveys the emotional cost of prioritizing external support over internal needs, leaving the viewer to confront the raw consequences of self-neglect.
